Peppol is a secure European network that allows businesses and government organizations to easily send and receive electronic invoices. It replaces traditional PDF or paper invoices. Through Peppol, accounting systems exchange data directly, delivering your invoices straight into your customer’s accounting software.

Why e-invoicing via Peppol?

Across Europe, digital invoicing has become the standard and, in many cases, a legal requirement:

• Mandatory in Belgium: E-invoicing is mandatory in Belgium for B2B transactions. PDF and paper invoices are no longer valid for these business transactions.

• International business: When invoicing companies in Belgium or other European countries, using Peppol is essential in practice. Without e-invoicing, you risk having invoices rejected or experiencing major payment delays in your client’s accounting system.

• The Netherlands and Germany: In countries like the Netherlands and Germany, e-invoicing is already mandatory for government suppliers and is rapidly becoming the standard for all business transactions.

Peppol-ID

A Peppol ID is the unique address used to identify your business within the Peppol network. You can request a Peppol ID from a Peppol Access Point provider, an accredited organization that connects your business to the Peppol network.

Setting up Peppol in Recras

Setting up Peppol in Recras is quick and simple, requiring just three steps:

1. Activate Peppol in Company Settings. Enter your business details, such as your address, Chamber of Commerce number, VAT number, and IBAN. Verification is handled through Mollie.

2. Add the Peppol ID to the client profile. The client can provide this ID themselves, or you can look it up directly within Recras.

3. Send invoices automatically via Peppol. Instead of receiving a standard PDF invoice, the client receives an email notifying them that the invoice has been sent via Peppol. You can pre-configure and customize this email to match your own brand style.
