The importance of Two-Factor Authentication

For some time now, it has been possible to log in using two-factor authentication (2FA). Now, you can also make 2FA mandatory for all your Recras users. Logging in with an additional step may seem inconvenient, but we’re happy to explain why 2FA is essential for security.

Protect your recreation business with Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

In your Recras environment, you manage valuable data, from customer reservations to employee information. The last thing you want is for this data to fall into the wrong hands. Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) adds an extra layer of security and helps protect your business from digital threats.

What is 2FA?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is a method that requires users to complete two steps to log in to a website or application. This means that, in addition to entering a password, a second verification method is required, such as a unique code from an authenticator app or a fingerprint scan. This extra step provides double security, ensuring that only you can access your account, even if your password falls into the wrong hands.

Why 2FA?

You and your employees work daily with confidential customer data, payments, and internal business information. Without additional security measures, you risk data breaches, which can lead to financial loss and reputational damage. With 2FA, you protect yourself, your business, your employees, and your customers from the most common cyber threats.

  • Prevent weak passwords in your business
You have no control over the strength of the passwords your employees use. Common passwords like Welcome1, password, or 123456 make it very easy for hackers to gain access. By enabling 2FA, you add an extra layer of security, ensuring that even if a password is guessed, unauthorized access is still prevented.

  • Protection against phishing
Cybercriminals use increasingly sophisticated phishing techniques to steal login credentials. With 2FA, your account remains protected, even if someone accidentally clicks on a phishing link and enters their password.

  • Secure customer data and reservations
In Recras, you store valuable customer data. A data breach could have serious consequences for your visitors’ privacy and your business reputation. By enabling 2FA, you significantly reduce the risk of unauthorized access.

  • Protect your data from internal risks, including former employees
Not only external threats pose a risk—internal factors can also play a role. 2FA ensures that only active employees have access, preventing former employees from logging into another staff member’s account.

  • Requirement to securely manage data (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requires businesses to securely manage personal data of employees, customers, and suppliers. 2FA helps you meet these requirements and better protect your business from data breaches.

Making 2FA mandatory in Recras

For some time, it has been possible to log in to Recras using 2FA. Now, you can also make 2FA mandatory for all your Recras users. This may seem cumbersome at first, but it significantly increases security and reduces the likelihood of unauthorized access.

Where can you activate this mandatory 2FA feature in Recras? Go to Settings > Click on Security under the Staff section. Ensure that “Require two-factor authentication for all users” is enabled.

By making 2FA mandatory, you protect your business, employees, and customers from online threats. A relatively small effort with a big impact on the security of your recreation business.
